Hello, I'm Sophie
I’m a project manager. I’m a parent. An expat based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the plan for the long haul. As with many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and higher expectations. Everyday errands felt more tangled than they ought to.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and much learning by doing. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and started building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Sunset Grove Ink
Most online information was either corporate relocation advice or superficial tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Netherlands.
